Kory Jones, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Jones is a native Texan; born in Abilene and raised in El Paso. She received her Bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin, her medical degree from Texas Tech University School of Medicine, and completed her residency in General Surgery at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Jones has been in practice in Arlington and Mansfield since 2007, where she specializes in General Surgery with a specific interest in cancers and disorders of the breast. Dr. Jones is the Medical Director of the Breast Program at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital and is a member of the Breast Program Leadership and Cancer Program Committee at USMD Hospital at Arlington. She is also a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and a participant in the Mastery of Breast Surgery Program.

It is imperative to Dr. Jones that the women of Arlington, Mansfield, and surrounding areas have access to the most up to date, high quality, and comprehensive breast care. She offers individualized diagnostic and surgical plans and routinely performs ultrasound guided cyst aspirations and biopsies in her office. She also performs breast conservation surgery (lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy), skin-sparing mastectomy, areola-sparing mastectomy, and nipple-sparing mastectomy. Additionally, Dr. Jones is able to place partial breast irradiation catheters in her office if the patient desires this type of treatment modality and it is deemed appropriate by the patient’s Radiation Oncologist.

Dr Jones works closely with highly experienced, board certified Plastic Surgeons who perform reconstructive surgeries such as oncoplastic breast reduction, implant reconstruction, and DIEP flap reconstruction. She also has strong relationships with Oncologists and Radiation Oncologists in the area who offer the most up-to-date treatment options. Her office also offers genetic testing and referrals to genetic counseling, as appropriate. In addition, they offer ongoing close monitoring for lymphedema utilizing the L-Dex extracellular fluid measuring device. With these services, Dr. Jones is able to participate in the care of the patient from the point of diagnosis through their survivorship.

In 2009, Dr. Jones married Bo Kalabus who is a criminal defense attorney practicing in McKinney. Together they enjoy cooking, traveling, scuba diving, and spending time with their two spoiled (but very sweet) dogs.

Dr. Jones and her staff know that the care of breast cancer patients involves more than just her high skill level and medical knowledge, it involves compassion and the care of the whole person, which often times includes the family and friends. The reward is in the journey with her patients through treatment and beyond.

Currently Dr. Jones sees patients at USMD Hospital at Arlington and performs surgery at USMD, Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, and Arlington Memorial Hospital (where she currently serves as Chief of the Department of Surgery). Rachel Giraudin is her nurse. Rachel is with her in the office, as well as assisting her in the operating room.
